Goldwork Wreath: Introduction to Goldwork

Goldwork Wreath: Introduction to Goldwork

Goldwork Wreath: Introduction to Goldwork workshop via Zoom on Saturday 10th July 2021 at 7pm (EDT)

In this class you will learn the basics of goldwork technique and how to embroider this flower wreath. The design outline was taken from a XIX Century book for embroidery patterns that I thought was ideal to work in this technique.

Prior to the class you will receive the kit with all the materials needed to complete the project: all metal and cotton threads, twist, passing thread, couching thread, needles, fabric, and the printed pattern.

This is a class aimed for the beginner in goldwork or for those that would like to learn how to embroider this project that includes some basic goldwork stitches such us: couching, chipping and the very lovely two-needle leaf stitch.

Some previous experience in hand embroidery is recomended.

You will also need:

  • 8" embroidery hoop
  • stand for your hoop
  • 2 pairs of scissors: embroidery scissors and goldwork scissors (or another pair of embroidery scissors that you will use for the metals)
  • heat soluble pen for tracing the pattern (i.e. Frixion pen)
  • Velvet board for cutting the metals or a felt surface
  • Mellor (optional, as you can use the chenille needle included in your kit)
