This workshop will be taught over two live Zoom sessions, each lasting 2 hours.
All sessions will be recorded, and recordings will be available for you to keep for future reference or in case you are unable to attend one or both sessions. The recording links do not expire.

About the project
In this workshop, you will create a dimensional Queen Honey Bee brooch while exploring a combination of goldwork and stumpwork techniques. Throughout the two sessions, I will guide you through the different techniques, including couching, chipping, cutwork, sculpting with coiled pearl purl, shaping and constructing dimensional wings, and neat backing and finishing techniques for the brooch. The project combines different metals, layered padding, and detailed surface work, creating a small but technique rich piece with plenty of intricate elements.
Although intricate, this is a very enjoyable project to stitch and offers plenty of opportunities to explore variations of the bee. The sculptural stumpwork wings and coiled pearl purl bring an especially playful and dimensional element to the piece.
What’s included
The workshop includes a complete kit with all the materials required to finish the project. Your kit contains the printed pattern, fabric, needles, threads, metals, felts, purls, crown and more. All carefully prepared so you can focus fully on the stitching during the workshop.
Apart from what's included in the kit you will need:
- 8 inches embroidery hoop
- Stand or Clamp to hold the hoop
- Goldwork embroidery scissors or embroidery scissors that you will use only to cut metals
- Embroidery scissors
- A velvet board or soft surface to cut the metals
- Mellor (optional - you can also use one of the chenille needles included in the kit)
- Heat erasable pen for fabric such as PILOT FriXion Clicker Erasable Gel ink pen or just a pencil
- Awl, or some tool to pierce the fabric
