Join me for this beginner-friendly goldwork embroidery workshop, where we’ll stitch a beautiful Cornflower Wreath using traditional metal threads and techniques. This class is designed as an introduction to goldwork, but all levels are welcome! Whether this is your first time working with metal threads or you're looking to refresh your skills, you’ll learn everything you need to confidently complete the project—and be inspired to create your own designs.
In this class, we cover:
How to transfer the design onto your fabric
How to back your embroidery properly for goldwork
How to identify different types of metal threads and purls
Blending colours using purls
Essential goldwork techniques including: couching, chipping, cutwork, and more.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll not only finish your cornflower wreath but also gain a solid foundation in goldwork embroidery, ready to explore more advanced projects.
For those with more experience: this project offers plenty of room for creativity. You’re very welcome to add your own twist: perhaps by incorporating a little embroidered insect like a ladybird or dragonfly into the wreath. I’ll be happy to offer suggestions if you'd like to personalise your piece further.
